Great news! We have seen a rise in the number of corporate Christmas parties being held. Applause!
This is a scene that has changed much in recent years. In the good old days, businesses would have booked the venue, entertainment and chosen beef or salmon for their Christmas party sometime in June!
These days it is all very last minute, despite the fact that the importance of Christmas office parties is well recognised. Event companies and corporate Executive Assistants that we work with say that plans are not confirmed until well in to November, or even early December. This is because budgets are not confirmed or because venues have been changed due to fluctuating staff numbers. CEO’s may be waiting to see if the year is a success, financially, or perhaps staff numbers are changing because of new appointments etc. The problem with opting to do this is that you risk finding that your venue or band of choice is fully booked!
We would like to gently encourage those CEO’s and more importantly their EA’s to organise a Christmas party. This quote from a survey by GloboForce states that ’78 per cent of employees feel that being recognised motivates them on the job, and 78 per cent said they would work harder if they were recognised’! So we say wrap your arms around your staff and show them the love!
